I pulled away from Mika and stared at him. He was a 'Gangrel'...whatever that meant....all I knew about them was that he was like the ones from earlier. He wanted me dead, I backed against the door trying to escape into the shadows but his eyes followed me. Mika didn't notice as she was hurrying around her room trying to find something.
"Here it is." She said popping up from under her bed with three cans. She smiled at Embry who slightly smiled back then turned his eyes back on me. She looked up but her face fell into confusion as she saw me in the shadows. "Newborn, what's wrong? Embry won't hurt you, he's a friend. You know what friends are don't you?"
"She's right, I wouldn't hurt a friend." he took a step forward, and I panicked as I scrambled for the doorknob.
"Newborn, what's going on?" she demanded looking at Embry for guidance. I pulled the door open with too much force and ran out of it, I jumped down the stairs and took off down the hallway. "Newborn!" she cried after me.
I was leaving, this was insanity. I was better off in my forest, I was better off still human. Something tackled me, I hit the carpet without a sound and I struggled against the heavy thing on me.
"Calm down." I stopped struggling and stared up at Embry. He panted slightly and his black hair hung over part of his face. His eyes were dark, almost dark as the eclipse I had seen in the forests. "Don't do what you are thinking of doing. I promise not to harm you, I've sworn in my own blood to give up being a Gangrel."
"Embry." came a frightened whisper and Embry looked over his shoulder at Mika. She looked so frightened and tears washed down her cheeks.
"It's fine, Mika. Just summon them and I'll escort Newborn back to your chambers." She nodded then hurried off down the hall as Embry stood us up. He looked at me and seemed to understand that I would not going willingly with him, so he swung me up in his arms and carried me back to her pink bedroom. He set me on the bed and put the can in my hand. "Drink it or you'll be a danger to Mika."
"Why do you care for her? You're one of them." I said, only my lips moved, every other part of me was still in the same stance.
"She is the future, and I'm just trying to make peace." he whispered as he sat in her window seat. He stretched his long legs out and waited for Mika to come. I looked down at the open can in my hands and lifted it to my lips. Before I realized it, the can was empty. And I felt normal. I felt like I was still human. Embry was watching at me and smiled at something on my face.
"Blood, the magic ingrident in every potion." he laughed and I just watched him.

the keepers
I stared blankly as she smiled at me, the two men waited for some reaction...something to change in my face. But they were in for a shock, I finally took a deep breath...and realized something strange.
Mika's heart was still beating in her ribcage, warm sweet blood coursing through her young veins. My hunger rose and I dropped her hand so I could back away from her. She was a human, living in a house of monsters...monsters that could kill her in a second.
"She's human." I whispered as my hunger threatened to break free. Let the animal go free. The monster in me crooned. No, she's just a little girl.
"No, she is a vampire." Caius answered as Vern watched me with gentle eyes. "She's a pure blood vampire. When she makes her first kill..."
"When I drink every drop of a human, then I will change. And so will they, just like what happened to you." Mika finished smiling hugely and grabbing my hand again. "Come on, let's clean you up. You look like a Brujah clan member." she let out a little giggle and tried to pull me with her but Caius put his hand on my shoulder.
"It is unsafe to have her alone with you, Princess. Let her drink first." It felt like my stomach knot and I shook my head quickly.
"Won't....no human blood....not human." I begged and she looked at Vern, who I could only guess was her father. He nodded and she tugged at my hand again.
"Don't worry, Telo and Tela left some of their drink. I think they call it blood light...he was saying it was named after some human beer." She shrugged and continued to tug at me, this time Caius's hand disappeared and I followed after her into the darkness of the halls.
"I hope Caius isn't following, Embry hates going out the window." she murmured almost to herself as she hurried up a flight of stairs, I must have been slowing her down because she frowned back at me. "Hurry, hurry. He won't wait forever."
"Who is he?" My words felt numb to even me but she didn't seem to notice as her eyes lit up. Now she did really look like an angel on Earth.
"Embry." was all she whispered before going to open the door we stopped in front. Her room was bright pink with a large balcony window that was shut and had the blinds shut. In front of it stood a teenage boy, he straightened and stared at me for a moment.
"Embry, this is newborn. Newborn, this is Embry...heir to the Gangrel clan."
